QUEERIA

Queeria is a non Governmental organization in Serbia which has helped lead the fight for gay rights since the arrival of democracy in Serbia in the year 2000. Over the years, their activities have ranged from attempting to organize the gay pride parades, to sponsoring various seminars aimed at educating the masses on gay issues and culture but above all, their goal is and remains to promote tolerance and acceptance. Considering the fact all of the Governments which have held power in Serbia since the ousting of the Milosevic have been either unwilling or incapable to deal with the gay issue, the idea of a gay calendar was in fact born out of this desire to at least be present in some shape or form in the mainstream society. This edition in particular was the first time real people whom are openly gay had posed for the making of the calendar which made it a very small but important step in the struggle for gay rights and recognition in Serbia.
