UAE Foreign Workers
United Arab Emirates appears to be to the 21st century what New York City was to the 20th. There seem to be no limit to what can or can not be done here. The growth has been spectacular and as more and more Westerners rush to this new “ 21st century Eldorado” in hopes of making it big. Behind the enormous projects which characterize Dubai and Abu Dhabi today, are thousands of south east Asian men who are lured to the UAE not by the prospect of making it big in the city but by mere necessity and desire to ensure a better survival for their families back home. They work for an average pay of 100 dollars a month and don’t have any illusions about getting rich in this city. They are the builders of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the men who are bused into the growing metropolis daily to work 14-hour shift, and are then bused back to the desert for a short night of rest in the makeshift camps which host them.
